So, how do youmake friends when you’re alone in the world?
While getting a beer by myself, (classic, I know) at Hotel Steyne in Manly and trying to ignore the 66 yr old man, whistling at me as we were the only two single and alone people at the bar and Manly…probably in the realm of SydneyI relocated to the other side of the bar and was lucky enough to strike conversation with two incredible guys that right off the bat- took me under their wing. Lucky me, thirty minutes later, their friend group showed up at the bar- each as welcoming and kind as the last.
Since this glorious day of fate when I happened to be in the exact right place at the exact right time, making friends and meeting good people has been much simpler than I had ever imagined it would be; primarily due to the “good people theory” in which I will furtherdelineate in another post. I was so overwhelmed and intimidated by the Aussies when I came here that I ceased to realize what my place in Australia would be. I’ve met friends that I’ll have for the rest of my life and at this point, whom I can’t imagine living without; you know boys, the kind of friends that you’ll have at your wedding.
